interesting domino job in denverWednesday, November 9th, 2011 :: by jonvon
my good friend dave needs a senior domino architect/coder
to work in denver. sure looks like a cool job. there are all these sensors
monitoring renewable energy devices, all this data going... somewhere,
and the somewhere is prototyped in domino, and will likely stay in domino
too. i kinda knocked around some ideas on the basic architecture with dave
and boy, i wish i could work on this. it's the kind of thing that people
say you can't do with domino but you know what? yes you can!
the guy or gal who wants to apply for this should have serious domino dev experience, but be able to converse in and learn other languages and technologies quickly. you know who you are.
i can't move to denver (long story), otherwise... i wouldn't be posting this here for someone else to capitalize on. this is a get-in-on-the-ground-floor type of opportunity.

Global Energy Initiatives (GEI) is a recently well funded startup. We manufacture and deploy renewable energy production systems to developing nations. We are focused on new designs for hydro-electric power generation, and are anticipating significant growth over the next 18 months.
We are currently seeking a Software Architect to join our Denver office, to own the development and maintenance of our monitoring, metering, and SCADA software systems.
This role will be the first member of a software-focused team expected to grow alongside the company. You will work closely with our infrastructure team to make sure the software works well on a global network of both connected and disconnected project sites.
Required Skills (in order of importance):
- Lotus Notes/Domino Development
- HTML/CSS/JavaScript
- jQuery
- System Administration
- Understanding of server/network infrastructure
Traits of our ideal candidate would include:
- You can code brilliantly, but that is not the full extent of your value.
- You are results-oriented.
- You focus on the reliability of your products.
- You are willing to dedicate whatever time is required to complete a project.
- You have an interest and/or passion for renewable energy.
- You are seeking meaningful work, not just a paycheck.
- You are willing to support and possibly travel to sites within developing nations.
- You are highly adaptable and flexible.
- You have a broad understanding of technology and can work at any layer of the stack.
- You are comfortable abstracting code into re-usable products, and creating APIs for our customers.
- You believe in simple, effective designs.
- You are comfortable leading teams, but also following direction.
- You make technical decisions based on business needs, not personal preferences.
- You have experience working with/on remote teams.
- You can quickly learn and be effective on new software platforms.
We offer a competitive salary, with a generous project-based bonus program.
